A Thousand Letters by Staci Hart

Sometimes your life is split by a single decision.

I’ve spent every day of the last seven years regretting mine: he left, and I didn’t follow. A thousand letters went unanswered, my words like petals in the wind, spinning away into nothing, taking me with them.

But now he’s back.

I barely recognize the man he’s become, but I can still see a glimmer of the boy who asked me to be his forever, the boy I walked away from when I was young and afraid.

Maybe if he’d come home under better circumstances, he could speak to me without anger in his voice. Maybe if I’d said yes all those years ago, he’d look at me without the weight of rejection in his eyes. Maybe if things were different, we would have had a chance.

One regretted decision sent him away. One painful journey brought him back to me. I only wish I could keep him.

*A contemporary romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion*

Jen's Review 4.5 Stars

Great story! I really enjoyed this one

Wade and Eliott were together since they first laid eyes on each other. They knew it was forever even when she was 15 and he was 16 - but when she was 17 and he 18, they were both too young to start a new life together.

7 years later - the unexpected happened and Wade came home from the Army . He knew it was going to be hard with his dad being sick, but he also knew it was going to be harder being around Eliott.

Eliott was BFF with Sophie and her little sister Sadie - both sisters to Wade. And their dad, Rick was her Mentor - She learned everything from him. Her own family was mean and selfish, but she had learned to deal with them by not letting their words or actions get to her.
Instead, she focused on things that made her happy. And Rick had taught her about Poetry.

This book was deep - the whole family's feelings towards Rick were raw and seeing him slowldyingng and no one able to do anything was hard. (Especially when I was reading at work on every break and lunch :) )

Wade was hard to read about too - He had so much emotions and everything piling up on his shoulders, it's no wonder he didn't know what to do or how to feel -

This was a sweet story - I enjoyed reading this one a lot :)
